The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is seeking artists
for its upcoming open, juried exhibition, entitled “Light”.
The competition will run from June 22- July 10, 2008,
and is open to all artists in New England. Work must
be original, watermedia based, and have been completed
within the last three years.
Cash awards will include First Prize - $150, Second
Prize - $100, and Third Prize - $75. Cynthia Baron,
Signature Artist of the American Watercolor Society.
A national award winning artist and teacher based in
RI, Cindy Baron’s work has been accepted into
prestigious shows across the country. Entry submissions
can be delivered from June 3-15 at the Society’s
Gallery, located at the J. C. Potter Casino (Boat House)
in Slater Memorial Park, Armistice Boulevard, Pawtucket,
RI. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from
10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.

THE BOOK
We are seeking project contributors for an upcoming
book tentatively titled 1000 Handmade Greeting Cards.
The book will feature handmade greeting cards using
a variety of media and styles. The emphasis is on
the handcrafted card—computer-generated cards
will not be considered.

FIRST ANNUAL PAWTUCKET FOUNDATION PRIZE EXHIBITION
- MAY 3-JUNE 28, 2008
Guest Curator: Steven Holmes, Curator for
the Cartin Collection
Prizes: First prize is $4,000. There will be
four $250 Honorable
Mentions. Winners will be announced at the opening
on May 3.
Eligibility: Each artist 18 and over may enter
one work, executed in the past 3 years and not previously
exhibited in Pawtucket. Each work must be clearly
labeled on the back (or in another appropriate location)
with the artist’s name, address, phone number;
and its title, medium and insurance value. All works
must be exhibition ready: framed, wired and ready
to hang. The Pawtucket Foundation reserves the right
to deny entry to any work not properly prepared for
exhibition. No ‘wet’ work will be admitted,
nor will any that arrives early or late. Artists are
advised to carry their own insurance.

Public Art Works (PAW) a Rhode Island based Art’s
Organization invites professional artists living and/or
working in Rhode Island to apply for a commissioned
installation with the focus on stained glass as the
primary medium.
Location: Meditation room at Hospice Home
Care of Rhode Island.
Commission: Approximately $8,000.00
