Art League of Rhode Island Associate Members Exhibit APRIL 2 - 27, 2008.

Opening and Awards Reception: Sunday, April 6th 1-3pm Over $500 in awards selected from actual work. Juror: Gretchen Dow Simpson. Hand delivered only March 28th 3-6pm, March 29th 10am-noon. Open to RI, CT, and MA artists 18+. Gallery 297, 297 Hope St. (located on second floor in Green River Silver Co.), Bristol, RI (401-253-5005).

Work eligible: any original oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, printmaking, photography, drawing medium, mixed media, or sculpture created in the last 3 years not previously exhibited with ALRI. All art must be for sale. Only hand-delivered work. All artwork must be properly framed, wired and ready to hang. No clip on frames or sawtooth hangers accepted. Sculpture weight limit of 30 pounds. Maximum Size including frame: 48” max in either direction. Limit of 2 entries per artist.

Entry Fee: No entry fee for ALRI Associate Members. Non-members become members automatically at entry - $40 fee for 1-2 entries. ALRI Associate Membership entitles the artist to all the league privileges - monthly email newsletter, invitation to all league events, a yearly exhibition, and discounts on league workshops. Commission on sales is 30 %.


Rhode Island Watercolor society Call for Artists Announcement

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is seeking artists for its upcoming open, juried exhibition, entitled “Winter Around the World”. The competition will run from February 17- March 6, 2008, and is open to all artists in New England. Work must be original, watermedia based, and have been completed within the last three years.

Cash awards will include First Prize - $100, Second Prize - $75, and Third Prize - $50. Carol Strause FitzSimonds, printmaking instructor at the Providence Art Club, will serve a judge for selection of works and awards recognition. Carol’s award winning work has been exhibited at colleges, museums, and galleries throughout the United States and in Ireland. Her aquatint technique was featured in The Artist’s Magazine in October 1999. She is an elected member of such national art organizations as the Copley Society of Art, Audubon Artists, American Artists Professional League, and American Color Print Society.

Entry submissions can be delivered from February 1 - 11 at the Society’s Gallery, located at the J. C. Potter Casino (Boat House) in Slater Memorial Park, Armistice Boulevard, Pawtucket, RI. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.
